You are a human being. You have rights inherent in that reality. You have dignity and worth that exists prior to law. – Lyn Beth Neylon

I take this opportunity to introduce All India Human Rights Association (AIHRA), the first registered HumanRights Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in India, has been in existence since 1987, formed for the noble cause of protecting and upholding Human Rights and providing legal assistance to the needy and under-privileged. In its sojourn of 21 long years, AIHRA has translated its avowed objectives at the grassroot level through camps, conferences, seminars, conventions, cultural programmes, family courts and free legal services to the underprivileged.
AIHRA has achieved its pre-eminent position of the third largest NGO on Human Rights in the world, and has been affiliated to the concerned UN outfit, mainly for the noble cause of protecting and upholding Human Rights and providing legal assistance to the under-privileged. Besides running National Human Rights Legal Cell, AIHRA has set up an International Human Rights Library and a ‘Free School’ for the poor in Delhi.
AIHRA boasts of a very large membership base, over 22,000 active members spread across 33 States of the Indian Union, with 150 centres operating for the cause of spreading human rights awareness in order to break the barriers of class, caste, creed, colour and religion. AIHRA promotes art, culture, peace, harmony and brotherhood. AIHRA’s message is taken throughout the length and breadth of this country by its active members.
AIHRA has been conducting a number of peace marches, The most significant one was undertaken in the year 2004, taking off on 2nd October from Raj Ghat, New Delhi flagged off by the then Lt. Governor, Delhi and wound up on 10th December at India Gate, New Delhi, culminating with a marathon from India Gate to Raj Path. The resultant information duly filled its think-tank and inspired the Association to organise yet another 200-day journey, which was flagged off by Dr. Shalini Dewan, Director, United Nations Information Centre on the eve of the Republic Day, was concluded on the country’s Independence Day at Lal Quila, New Delhi, after a journey of 51,000 kilometers in 202 days. En route we had organised a large number of functions and public addresses during which the mobile AIHRA team was literally overwhelmed with the response and warmth of the people to whose cause the NGO is committed.
AIHRA publishes a Bi-lingual Fortnightly Human Rights Magazine. Through the medium of its Human Rights Magazine, AIHRA raises its voice against all sorts of evils and justice boldly, at the same time, creates consciousness, awareness in the minds of the people and educates them to train their minds to be united.
HAPPINESS and SORROW are meant to be shared. No one should be considered High or Low in the eyes of even the God men. So should all be treated equally in the eyes of the State and the governmental machinery. Gone are the days of bonded labour and slavery! It should be considered a crime to ill-treat any one on account of gender, age, caste, colour or religion.
Jai Hind!
